Kroche Reindeer Mug-Hugger

One reindeer mug hugger with antlers, a red nose and a handle cuff.

What you get

  • A 5-page PDF, A4 and US Letter both included
  • 14 numbered rounds, each ending in the stitch count you should have
  • A stitch chart drawn from the same counts as the written pattern
  • 5 things that commonly go wrong, and what to do about each

Before you start

  • Skill level: Confident beginner
  • Finished size: coaster about 10 cm (4.0 in) across; the cuff fits a standard mug handle
  • Time to make: about 35 minutes to 55 minutes
  • Assembly: The cuff is worked directly onto the coaster edge. No pieces are sewn together. The antlers and nose are worked onto the coaster; nothing is sewn.
  • Terms: US crochet terms throughout.

You must already know: chain, single crochet, working in continuous rounds, working into a chain space. This pattern does not teach you to crochet — it teaches you to make this one object.

You will need: stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors, 15 mm button (optional — see the cuff finishing note), small amount of red yarn for the nose, small amount of dark brown for the antlers. Yarn: Warm brown worsted cotton (CYC 4).

Two things this file does not state. Yarn amount and hook size are left blank on purpose — neither can be worked out from a stitch count, and no physical make has been recorded to measure them from. Size and time above are calculated from the counts, not measured. Every count was worked out twice, independently, and matched before the file was allowed to exist.
