Before you start
Skill level: four are beginner, the rest are confident beginner — you need to be able to crochet already, but nothing here is advanced
Hook: 4.0 mm (US G/6) throughout, or whatever gives you 19 sc to 10 cm
Total time: about 4 to 7 hours, if you sat down and made every one
Assembly: every piece is worked in one go, or worked directly onto the piece before it. Nothing is sewn together at the end.

You must already know: back loop only, chain, changing colour at the end of a row, counting a foundation chain, double crochet, increase, sc2tog, sc3tog, single crochet, slip stitch, using a stitch marker, working flat in rows, working in continuous rounds, working in rows, working into a chain space. These patterns do not teach you to crochet — they teach you to make these particular objects.
You will need: a stitch marker, a yarn needle for ends, and scissors. Some of the patterns also use scraps of contrast yarn for faces and spray starch for a crisper finish — each file lists its own on page 1.

A size run that is one size and a shrug. You wanted a garment that
fits and you were handed arithmetic homework.

inside it, and the shape you are working toward is not the shape

Every count in these patterns is derived twice, by separate
arithmetic that shares no code — and the file will not build unless

The number at the end of a round
That bold figure is how many stitches you should have once
the round is finished — not how many to work. Count them before you
move on.

Why the marker matters
Continuous rounds have no join, so there is no seam to find. Put a
marker in the first stitch of the round and move it up every single
round, or the count drifts and nothing tells you.

When the number disagrees
Do not carry on and hope. The fault is almost always in the round
you just finished, not in your hands.
Stop at the round where the number first disagreed —
everything after it is already wrong.

already know. None of them teaches you to crochet — they teach you
to make one object.
All directions use US crochet terms .
Gauge changes finished size. The figures are
calculated at 19 sc to 10 cm; work looser and everything
comes out larger.
Yarn quantities are left blank on purpose.
Yardage cannot be calculated reliably from a stitch count — it has
to be weighed off a finished piece.
Finished size and time are calculated
Both figures are derived from the stitch counts at the stated yarn
weight and hook. They are not measured from a finished object.
Treat them as a guide to what you are committing to, not a promise.
No independent physical make has been recorded for these
patterns yet. The arithmetic has been checked twice; a human

Each pattern lists its own prerequisites on page one. Most assume chain,
single crochet, increase and decrease, and working in continuous rounds
with a marker. None of them teaches you to crochet from scratch — they
teach you to make one object.
Every size is written out in full, with its own complete directions.
There is no adjustment table and nothing says "work to desired
length". That is why the graded files run long.
They are calculated from the stitch counts at the stated yarn weight —
not measured from a finished object. Every one is labelled
calculated in the file. Your gauge, your yarn and your hands will
move both figures.
Yarn quantities are left blank, because yardage cannot be calculated
reliably from a stitch count. It has to be weighed off a finished piece,
and a wrong figure sends you out for yarn you did not need.
Stop at the round where the number first disagreed. Everything after it
is already wrong, so working on will not fix it. Each pattern has a
section listing what you see, what caused it and what to do — the fault is
far more often a miscount than anything in your hands.
There is no published returns policy for this shop yet, and one will not
be invented here to fill the gap. It will appear on this page when it is
written.
The arithmetic in all patterns has been derived twice by
independent programs that share no code, and the files will not build
unless the two agree. An independent crocheter has not yet worked one
start to finish, and that is not claimed anywhere in the shop or in the
files.
